FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND THE ENDOWMENT FUND

The financial support for UNA-Oregon activities are derived from four main sources:
  1) membership dues
2) volunteer and in-kind donations
3) gifts, grants, and donations
4) income from its Endowment Fund

Neither UNA-USA or UNA-Oregon receives financial support from the U.N.

UNA-Oregon uses its financial support wisely to be as effective as possible!

Donations to the Endowment Fund are encouraged as a permanent source of support.

Membership Dues: The annual dues paid by each UNA member is divided between UNA-USA Headquarters in New York City, and that member's "local" Chapter/Division, unless the member specifies a different Chapter/Division. UNA-USA headquarters provides the membership benefits described on the <www.unausa.org> website including a subscription for the quarterly magazine The InterDependent to all members. That portion of the membership dues going to UNA-Oregon mainly covers the cost of newsletters to local members, plus some program activity and publicity expenses. Dues are essential but cover only a small portion of the overall expenses.

Volunteer and In-kind Donations: UNA-Oregon is primarily a volunteer organization and would not exist without the generous gift of time and effort from its many volunteer members serving on committees and as officers. Some businesses and organizations provide supplies or services to UNA-Oregon at a discount or without charge and this is much appreciated.

Gifts, Grants, and Donations: Corporate contributions, foundation grants, and gifts or donations from individuals are used for the purpose specified. If no purpose is specified by the donor, then the UNA-Oregon Board of Directors determines how it can best be utilized. Such gifts to UNA-Oregon are tax deductible, to the extent permitted by law. UNA-Oregon as a Division of UNA-USA qualifies for tax-exempt status under Federal Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3). A copy of the IRS determination letter may be obtained from the UNA-Oregon Treasurer upon request.

Endowment Fund: The UNA-Oregon Board of Directors authorized the establishment of an Endowment Fund in 2004 and is working to build that Fund so that it becomes a substantial source of income in the future to support increased activities. The Endowment Fund is a permanent Trust account with only the interest or a small percentage being used each year for current expenses. The purpose of this Fund is to provide financial resources to increase the number and effectiveness of UNA-Oregon's activities, especially working with youth, and to ensure the future sustainability of these efforts.
