What do YOU know about
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?
High school students from
Oregon and SW Washington had the unique opportunity this year to read all
thirty articles of the

which one or more was most meaningful to them and to share why in an Essay

Education Committee of the United Nations Association - Oregon Division,
under the direction of its chairperson, Karen Ettinger, K-12 Education

Delegates from PSU
MUN/Student Alliance Bring Home the Gold!
This March, Portland State
University Model United Nations/Student Alliance returned from their first
Model United Nations summit in Vancouver, B.C. The four-day event, hosted by
Simon Fraser University, featured hours upon hours of exciting negotiation
as teams from Northwest universities and high schools simulated the United
Nations.
Thanks to the generous support of sponsors like UNA-Oregon, PSU MUN/Student
Alliance sent nine PSU students to the conference, representing diverse
countries including Costa Rica, Cuba, France, and Saudi Arabia. True to
international spirit, both our students and our Canadian brothers and
sisters impressed each other with their dedication, preparation, and
creativity.
Most notably, hats off to the delegates representing France--PSU
students Jeff Fisher ('08), Patrick Maloney ('08), and Carrie Stiles
('08)--for winning the conference's top award: Best Delegation!
